Dr Lynn Paterson is Associate Professor in the Institute of Biological Chemistry, Biophysics and Bioengineering. She joined Heriot-Watt University in July 2007 as an RCUK Academic Fellow. Lynn has a BSc (Hons) Molecular Biology from the University of Glasgow and was awarded her PhD (Physics) from the University of St Andrews. She worked as a post doctoral research fellow at St Andrews, before joining Heriot Watt. Lynn’s research interests are in biophotonics, and projects include single cell isolation and manipulation using optical tweezers, fabrication of microfluidics with integrated optics for cell sensing and sorting, use of nanoparticle sensors for biomedical applications, Raman microspectroscopy, optical tweezer microrheology and understanding light-cell interactions.
